Shahrukh’s ‘Happy New Year’ enters club of Rs3 bn

KARACHI: ‘Happy New Year’, a film by Bollywood King, Shahrukh Khan, has broken a new box office record through business of Rs3.33 billion in just six days of worldwide shows and made a niche in the Rs3 billion club.

The film has earned around Rs2.18 billion just from India and earned revenue of Rs1.15 billion overseas. The shows of the movie have already been booked for 15 days.The film has done considerable business in Pakistan as well. It has been released in the country by Geo Films. According to unconfirmed information, it has done a business of Rs70 million in Pakistan alone.

Pakistani film fanatics have thronged the cinemas to enjoy the fiesta such that the movie houses have been getting a full house response from the public.On the first day of its release in India, it earned Rs450 million setting a new record of box office business.

The film has been simultaneously released in 60 countries the world over. It is being showed in the United States, the UK, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Gulf countries, South Africa, South America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, the Philippines, Nigeria, Morocco, West Indies, Malaysia, Indonesia, Fiji, Germany, Egypt and other countries.

The journey of success of ‘Happy New Year’ featuring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is still going on fast.The film has been presented in three Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Story of the film revolves around the character, Charlie, played by Shahrukh Khan. Charlie adopts unique ways to avenge the murder of his father, after which he plans to steal diamonds.
