SHARJAH: India Under-19s defeated Pakistan Under-19s by 40 runs to win the title of the Asian Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Taking the challenge of chasing a difficult target of 315, Pakistan fought bravely but could not reach it despite a brilliant unbeaten century by Kamran Ghulam and a defiant 87 by captain Sami Aslam. Both added 93 for the fifth wicket partnership.
Earlier, India made a big total of 314 for eight with the help of two centuries by captain Vijay Zol and Anju Samson after Pakistan won the toss and chose to field.
Zol and Samson made 180 runs for the third wicket stand during which both batsmen continued aggressive batting display.
It was a complete domination from the Indians started by a cameo from opener Ankush Bains (47). But a late flurry of wickets restricted India from scoring briskly in the last five overs. India however managed to cross the 300-run mark comfortably.
