As the weather gets cooler we're all keen to get back out on the beach. If you fancy combining some romance with a suntan, there's a few books you definitely need to put on your poolside reading book shelf. From old classics to new releases, there's something on our list for everyone.
1. Pride and prejudice
If you've never read this Jane Austen classic, it's time to splash out on a copy. Written by one of the most famous romance novelists of all time, the adventures of Lizzie Bennett and Mr Darcy is the perfect antidote to a bad break up or even just a bad day.
2. One Day
Made into a movie in 2011, David Nicholls' love story One Day is the tale of two young graduates whose paths continue to cross over the next twenty years. Funny, romantic and sad in equal parts, you'll need a box of tissues handy for this one.
3. PS I Love You
Another book that's gone from bestselling paperback to hit movie, PS I Love You is a story of love, heartbreak and grief. Only to be read when you're feeling emotionally strong, it's definitely a tear jerker.
4. Little Women
Technically Louisa May Alcott's 'Little Women' is about the love between four sisters, rather than the traditional male female romance. A great book for the festive season, if you've never read it make sure you pop it on your Christmas list.
5. The Hunger Games
If you like your love stories with some action, the Hunger Games series is a great choice. Though probably not a great idea if you scare easily, these top selling novels will have you gripped from start to finish.
6. Gone with the Wind
Bad girl Scarlett O Hara dominates the scene in the 1930s classic Gone with the Wind. Set in the deep south during the American civil war, it focuses on a fascinating period of history as well as love. It's a long book, so make sure you've got plenty of time on your hands.
7. Jane Eyre
It's been remade into a movie several times, but nothing beats the Charlotte Bronte classic. A traditional tale of romance of love, the 1847 story follows the lives of the wealthy Mr Rochester and his nanny Jane Eyre.
8. Can you keep a secret?
A light and easy beach read, this book was written by Sophie Kinsella, author of the popular shopaholic series. Based on the life of a twenty something girl with a job she hates and a mediocre boyfriend, it's something many girls will relate to.
