New Resident Evil Movie Isn’t Quite in Motion Yet, Says Writer/Director

It would have been the wishful of thinking of many that the next Resident Evil would start rolling as soon as possible, but that is not the case. The new Resident Evil movie – whatever they would name it – is yet to get going.
The series writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson was talking to Collider about his latest movie Pompeii when he was asked about the status of the next flick in the series.
His response was:
We’d like to do another Resident Evil movie. Definitely. But the wheels aren’t quite in motion yet.
The movie has been rumored since last year when it was heard that Sony had set September 12, 2014 as the release date for the movie. If this is true, the filming should have begun by now but apparently Anderson didn’t divulge anything like that.
Even in the interview in question he gave away no information regarding the casting, filming or anything for that matter. It is apparent that he does have a script in mind, but it is still a question, whether it is actually being written or not.
Anderson believes that since he has finished filming Pompeii only recently he would rather think of a vacation than yet another full time project.
I guess he is justified in that too.
Though I am secretly wishing that the creators of the series are keeping the new Resident Evil movie project secret on purpose, I don’t see a strong reason to believe so.
