The Best Yoga Poses for CrossFitters

Cross Fit may be all about challenging ODs, weightlifting prowess, and HIT dominance. But if you're a Cross Fit enthusiast, you can also benefit from the far more gentle practice of yoga. “They’re a great pairing,” says Zack Armstrong, an instructor at Yoga Six in San Diego. “CrossFit stresses the body; yoga releases tensions throughout the body and restores tired muscles to their naturally lengthened state.” And while there are a slew of yoga types to choose from, Austin-based instructor Steven Joyner ofYoga Illumined recommends to look for Hat ha yoga at your local studio, or another restorative class. But you can also do yoga at home: The ten poses below, recommended by Joyner and Armstrong, are all restorative and designed to focus on tight spots for Cross Fit athletes. Spend 30 to 45 seconds breathing deeply through each pose and try to do the routine a few times a week to counteract soreness.
