ISLAMABAD: A spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that Khan said horse-trading is tainting democracy in Pakistan.
The spokesman said that Khan spoke to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari regarding a one-point agenda.
He went on to say that the two leaders spoke in detail about the issue of horse-trading and how to put an end to it.
He further said that PTI is fully committed to transparency during polls in Pakistan.
According to the spokesman, Khan alleged that PPP had formed an alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to buy and sell votes and for that reason the PPP was against open balloting.
He also said the PTI chairman asserted that his party would not support PPP or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the polls under any circumstances since the PML-N was also not being sincere to open balloting.
According to PPP leader Farhatullah Khan Babar, the PTI chairman had telephoned Zardari on Sunday to discuss the upcoming Senate elections.
The former president also talked to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Sirajul Haq over telephone to discuss the polls, the 22nd amendment as well as the overall political situation.
