THE organiser of the Scottish Fashion Awards has defended her decision to keep the event south of the Border.

Tessa Hartmann says having the event in London for the first time last year brought Scottish talent to a wider audience.

She said: “If I could take the event to New York and Paris one day, I would. But one step at a time.”

The ceremony on September 1 will be co-hosted by Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael.

The extravaganza will see industry figures and fashion players from around the world gather to celebrate Scottish fashion and design talent.

Nominees for 2014 include high profile designers Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Holly Fulton.

Textile leaders Dhu, Brora and Queene & Belle have also been nominated for awards.
