Salman Khan's 'Kick' continues to triumph at the box office. The film's release during the Ramzan seems to have done the trick as it generated huge numbers on Eid with single-day box office collections coming to Rs 28.89 crore, taking the overall business in the Indian market to Rs 127.03 crore.
'Kick' managed to enter the Rs 100 crore club in just five days, which is two days more than 'Dhoom 3' and a day slower than 'Chennai Express' and 'Krrish 3'.
It has also become fifth straight movies, starring Salman Khan, to join the exclusive Rs 100 core club, after 'Jai Ho' (Rs 116 crore), 'Ek Tha Tiger' (Rs 198.78 crore), 'Dabangg 2' (Rs 155.00 crore), 'Bodyguard' (Rs 148.86 crore)
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Kick' day-wise collections come to Rs 26.40 crore on Friday, Rs 27.15 crore on Saturday, Rs 30.18 crore on Sunday, capping the the weekend with Rs 83.83 crore, making it the highest opening weekend grosser of 2014.
The film's business dipped a bit on Monday to Rs 14.41 crore, before picking up during Eid (Tuesday) with Rs 28.89 crore.
'Kick' has also drawn big crowds abroad, generating nearly Rs 17 crore in business in markets like the US-Canada, UK and Australia. It is also expected to shatter some records for the box office collections on the first week in Pakistan. Taken together, 'Kick' gross box office collections come to Rs 143.98 crore.
'Kick', starring Salman Khan in lead role and co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been making great progress, despite being panned by critics, and has already become the No 1 release of 2014.
Predictions for Salman Khan's 'Kick' have ranged anywhere between Rs 150 crore to Rs 450 crore, but no one gives it a chance of getting by Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 which generated Rs 500 crore.
