Ramadan 2014: Iftar at Raffles Azur, Dubai

As one of the most impressive hotels in Dubai — it’s shaped like a pyramid for Cheopes’ sake — walking into the lobby is like venturing into another world. And, during the month of Ramadan, it would be a welcome sight after a day of fasting.
The Azur Restaurant on the third floor of the hotel is a delightful area which has lots of quiet spots where couples would be happy to relax and break their fast. It would also be great for corporate groups.
The food on offer is a luxurious mix of Arabic dishes with a range of salads and relishes that would confuse a lesser being — me. It is a wonderland for Arabic food lovers and there is also vegetable biryani and various fish dishes.
But, the highlight is the outside terrace where the smell of roasting meat from the grill will have you salivating as its two chefs busily barbecue lamb, beef, prawns and lobster.
With friendly and helpful staff, there could be more vegetables on offer for those who want more of a healthy option, but on the whole, with rice, meat and salads, it’s the perfect place to break your fast this Ramadan.
