Halle Berry is the latest to switch from big to small screen, with brand new horror series 'Extant', which is due to debut on CBS on 9 July.
The Oscar-winning actress will assume one of the lead roles in this sci-fi/horror that, in its latest promo trailer, has an eerie, sinister vibe similar to 'Rosemary's Baby' as well as some other influences.
The TV spot tells us the plot, which sounds very similar to Steven Spielberg's 'A.I.: Artificial Intelligence', which also centres on a robot child - it's also no surprise he is one of the executive producers. Here, we see Berry's 'son' acting all sorts of creepy, as the TV spot poses the ideas of creating the ideal child. 'If you could create the perfect child, you'd make it beautiful, you'd make it smart, but could you make it human?' it asks.
So far there is very little actual detail on the plot, other than the official synopsis, which is cryptic in itself.
"Extant' is a mystery thriller about a female astronaut (Berry) trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history."
The premise is intriguing, with a mystery likely to unfold as the season progresses.

Mike indulges in all genres, with a particular affinity for horror -- specifically 'The Shining', 'The Blair Witch Project' and '[REC]'. Another of his favourites is 'Cannibal Holocaust', but would insist on watching it on an empty stomach. For more thoughts on movies and other such frivolity, follow him on Twitter.
